The Journey

Control

Freewill, the ability to change behaviors, thoughts, beliefs in order to have different experiences give us the sense that we have control. Is this all an illusion, do we have any control? Where is the line of what we can control and what is out of our control?

Behavior science will tell us we have control. Free will, as well as most religions, teach us we have choices that control the outcome. At what point does our control end and a higher power or purpose kick in?

My life seems to be a playing ground for finding that balance. Is yours too? One end of the scale is years of research and experience of knowing that we have more control than we think. The other end is the complete loss of personal control called faith. Both faith and fear have a place in our journey, they are a part of each and every one of us.

It is in the loss of control that we find our deepest fears arise and it’s the space where we discover our deepest love.

The layers of fear run deep. However, once revealed and let go there always seems to be a deeper level of love and faith. Let’s not ignore the fears, but let’s allow ourselves to reveal and work through the fear to find the faith.

Now is a time when the world is getting quiet. We are asked to stay in our homes, be with our family, and have faith. For some home is a happy place. For many, it is filled with anxiety, depression, anger along with many other fears. Beneath the fear, we find unity and love.

Let’s enjoy the discovery of something better. Let’s not be afraid to walk through the fire with our fears. Overcoming them is the best gift we can give ourselves and those we love.

What are your thoughts during this time? What can we control? What should we control? What should we let go?
